SUMMARY:Playing with Pantoums online class
DESCRIPTION:What’s a pantoum?\nIt’s a Malaysian poetry form from the fifteen century. They can be of any length\, though I usually go for the sixteen-line\, four-stanza variety. What makes it a pantoum is that the second and fourth lines of each stanza become the first and third lines of the next stanza\, and the first line of the pantoum is often the last line. \nPantoums invite you to repeat yourself\, while rearranging whatever you’re expressing in fresh and surprising ways. I often have the feeling the poem is writing itself. I’ve been delighting in writing\, reading\, and sharing pantoums for a while now and exploring the ways they can help me to notice\, savor and treasure\, sort out complexities and conflicts\, and express what needs expressing. \nWhat is Playing with Pantoums? \nPlaying with Pantoums is an online class that is part workshop\, part party. I’ll be providing you with a little instruction and guidance each week\, and you’ll have lots of opportunity to play around with generating different kinds of pantoums\, letting them take you where they want to go. We’ll also have lots of sharing\, though it will never be forced. \nWhen: We’ll meet on Zoom four Mondays from Noon to 1pm Pacific Time\, January 22 – February 12. I’ll send the Zoom connection information after you register. \nCost: $125 \nMaximum of 12 participants. \nOnce you have signed up\, please send a note to Carolyn at gentleapproachcoach@gmail.com just to confirm your registration.

SUMMARY:Free Author Event in Lynden for Clearing Clutter as a Sacred Act
DESCRIPTION:Carolyn will be sharing essays\, poems\, illustrations and songs from her new book\, Clearing Clutter as a Sacred Act. \nWhen clearing your clutter becomes overwhelming\, it helps to approach it with a mix of reverence and playful exploration. Carolyn is your gentle guide in this warm and accessible gathering of original essays\, poems\, practical actions\, writing prompts\, and illustrations. She invites you to honor the transitions you’ve traveled while gently helping you access the inner resources and clarity you need to move forward. \nPlease note that although the event is sponsored by Village Books the author event will be held in the Inn at Lynden in the Waples Room. Both the Inn and Village Books are in the Waples Building and the book signing afterwards will be at Village Books. The Inn has a better space for author events. \nIn our stressful\, stuff-filled world\, Carolyn Koehnline’s inspiring and wise book arrives as a breath of sanity. Helping us to reflect on our relationship with both inner and outer clutter\, she guides us to let go of what no longer serves our souls. Illustrations\, journal prompts\, and reflections are beautifully spaced and paced to create a sense of calm and ease. I loved this book.   \nMary Reynolds Thompson\, author of Reclaiming the Wild Soul: How Earth’s Landscapes Restore Us to Wholeness.  \n

SUMMARY:Worship Service: Glacier Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Kalispell\, Montana
DESCRIPTION:Life is always changing.  When you take a fresh look at what needs to be released and practice the art of letting go\, you make some room for what’s emerging. Clearing your clutter can provide a way to catch up to and make peace with life’s changes. But this seemingly mundane and practical process can also prove unexpectedly challenging\, stirring up profound questions of identity and mortality. Carolyn will share how shifting to a sacred stance can infuse your process with meaning and allow you to make deeper\, more lasting changes. She will also be lightening the energy with songs\, poems\, and illustrations from her new book\, Clearing Clutter as a Sacred Act. \nA two-hour workshop by the same title will be offerered that afternoon.

SUMMARY:Clearing Frustration Clutter
DESCRIPTION:Frustration is part of the human experience. Even if you pride yourself on being calm\, patient\, compassionate\, and cheerful\, frustration will still visit you. You could stuff it and do harm to yourself. You could dump it on others and do harm to them and to your relationships.  So what do you do? \nIn this small-group workshop we’ll practice writing processes and other strategies to help you move and release frustration safely\, before it implodes or explodes. You’ll learn ways to honor your feelings without being swallowed up by them. This can help you discern with more clarity whether an action needs to be taken\, and\, if so\, what action to take. \nClick the Buy Now button to register for the workshop with your Paypal account or a credit card.

SUMMARY:Clearing Clutter As A Sacred Act Introductory Workshop - FULL!
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis small-group workshop is designed for people in the Bellingham area who would like to engage in  the process invited by my new book\, Clearing Clutter as a Sacred Act.  \nThis workshop is now full. Please contact Carolyn at carolyn@confrontingclutter.com if you’d like her to schedule this workshop again in the near future. \nWhen you are going through the belongings you’ve accumulated over the years\, deciding what to keep and what to let go\, it brings up deep questions:  \n\nIf I let go of this will I be okay? \nWill I still be me?  \nWhat is enough? \nCan I make peace with past chapters of my life? \nWhat is important to me now? \nHow do I deal with the fact that I’m not going to live forever?\n\n\nWhen the process gets overwhelming\, it helps to approach it with reverence and intention. You can dedicate your clutter clearing to something or someone that matters to you. You can incorporate little gestures of self-compassion. You can pause when you get stuck and use expressive writing or art to get more clarity. You can invoke unseen help. You can use simple rituals to release objects that are emotionally loaded. Saying an intentional goodbye to objects related to a past life chapter\, role\, or stance\, can help you be more present and allow space for what’s emerging in your life. \nYou can no longer sign up here. This workshop is full.

SUMMARY:FREE Workshop - Making Space for New Beginnings

Come join this interactive workshop where we’ll explore Making Space for New Beginnings in our homes\, heads\, hearts\, and schedules. \nThis is a Forum for the Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship that happens before the morning worship service. It is open to members and friends of the fellowship\, but also to the greater community. “All who come in the spirit of good will are welcome.” \n
